Meet the Founder
Dr. Durrell A. Jones graduated with his Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from the Program in Mathematics Education (PrIME) at Michigan State University in 2021. Before being awarded this prestigious honor, he received his B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) in 2004, and went on to complete his M.S. in Mathematics Education from Towson University in 2014.
Since 2006, Dr. Jones has taught students in several capacities at various levels of public education, including high school, community college, and university. Most notably, Dr. Jones worked as a public high school mathematics teacher for several years. Noticing some of the challenges students faced in that space, Dr. Jones was compelled to create a space (LADA) to support students mathematically outside of the classroom-yet still in support of the classroom.
Coupled with his research endeavors, Dr. Jones explores how the widespread use of technology has impacted the structure and offering of mathematics courses within and across colleges and universities in the United States; and what social, educational, and mathematical philosophies underlie their implementation.
Dr. Jones is currently an Assistant Professor of Mathematics in higher education continuing his support of students mathematically.
